Sensory Processing Training Session
Sensory Processing
How do our children and young people process information, what impact can it have, and how can we all support them?
This fascinating session is being delivered by Chelsey Oxley, the Head of Therapy at bibic, and her co-worker Joely.
About bibic
Since 1972, we have evolved into a national charity supporting not only those with brain injuries but a wide range of disabilities, developmental conditions and learning difficulties; bibic passionately believes that every child deserves to reach their potential and live a fulfilling life.
We deliver assessments and bespoke developmental therapy to children and young adults aged six months to 25 years old and training to parents and professionals. We see them with or without a diagnosis and support a wide range of difficulties, including conditions such as Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, Cerebral palsy, Global Developmental Delay (GDD), Down’s syndrome, Sensory processing difficulties and many more.
About the speakers
Chelsey
I have worked in various roles with children and young people with behavioural difficulties for 16 years. I am a Registered Qualified Test User and a BPS (British Psychological Society) member. My degrees are in childcare and education, and I completed my Forensic Psychology Masters in 2022. My specialism is extreme behaviours and supporting those who are misunderstood, I take this as my passion in life helping as many children and young people as I can to get the best support, to be more understood and to stand the best chance in life.
Joely
I started working for bibic in September 2021 as the Family Services Coordinator. Prior to this, my career history was in Animal Rescue, the welfare of animals is a huge passion of mine. Within my role, I always aim to support in any way I can and to be an ear for families. Becoming the Assistant Therapist allows me to positively impact the families in a closer setting.
About the presentation
Sensory processing—This seminar will examine the eight senses in-depth, expanding on what each does and what happens when they don’t work effectively. It will teach what hyper- and hyposensitive looks like in each sense. We then learn about sensory regulation, how to keep the senses regulated, and how to gradually help integrate the senses.
Registration from 9:45 am. Refreshments on arrival. Plenty of parking.
