St. Bonaventure's Students Launch Crafty Creations
Young Entrepreneurs Raise Funds for Ups and Downs SouthwestCrafty Creations
Three children, Sofia, Florrie, and Seren, from St. Bonaventure’s Primary School have launched a mini-business, Crafty Creations, to raise funds for Ups and Downs Southwest. The cause is especially meaningful to the girls as Florrie’s sister, Tilly, who has Down Syndrome, also attends St. Bonaventure’s. The girls share a deep bond with Tilly, who is cherished by her family and friends.
“My 8yr old sister is amazing and she has Down Syndrome’ says Florrie ‘I wouldn’t have her any other way which is why I’m supporting Ups & Downs South West!”
Crafty Creations produces a variety of arts and crafts, including bracelets and pictures, which are being sold to generate funds. This endeavour is part of the Young Enterprise initiative, a national program aimed at instilling essential skills such as confidence, creativity, and problem-solving in children. Through this initiative, the children learn to take an idea from concept to completion, utilising planning and organisational skills, while simultaneously supporting a charitable cause close to their hearts.
“It has been great fun coming up with an idea as a team and creating all our own produce to sell” says Seren, “I particularly liked making the bracelets and packaging them, so they looked professional. We’ve learnt so much about how to run a small business and we’re so grateful to everyone who has donated or made purchases so we can help this really important charity.”
“I really enjoyed learning different ways of advertising online and in person” says Sofia. “I’ve also loved working with my friends on this project and I hope the money we raise will give children with Down Syndrome the life they deserve”.
Through the time of this mini project, the girls raised an amazing £550 for Ups and Downs Southwest, how incredible is that from just £5 and a whole heap of time, effort and enthusiasm; girls, you get a huge thumbs up and thank you from all the staff at Ups and Downs, you are an inspiration to us all.
