Ups and Downs Southwest is a Down Syndrome Support charity working with children, families and professionals across the South West. We carry out direct family support work and offer training packages to professionals from the health, education and social care sectors. With over 20 years’ experience, we are the ‘go to’ service for all families, professionals and all those involved in the care and education of children and young people who have Down Syndrome.
The Sherborne Youth Worker will oversee the organisation, management and delivery of our once per fortnight youth club sessions for young people (age 10 plus) who have Down Syndrome. This post is funded by Children In Need and part of the conditions include sourcing and working with external providers to offer stimulating, interesting and educational activities for our young people. In addition, managing a small budget in line with our grant conditions. The post holder will also need to utilize and manage a small bank of volunteers who support the youth club provision.
The successful candidate will be operating out of Sherborne Area Youth and Community Centre, Sherborne. In addition, the post holder will be expected to attend team meetings and training opportunities on occasion at our main office in Westonzoyland, 4 miles outside of Bridgwater.
