Gillian's Festive Fundraiser
A Family AffairAt Ups and Downs Southwest, we are always inspired by the creativity and dedication of our supporters. It’s particularly heartwarming when extended families rally together for a shared cause. Gillian Miles-Smith, grandparent to one of the children we support, recently organised a delightful Christmas Fayre in her home—and it was truly a family affair!
Held on Saturday, November 23, the event was a whirlwind of festive cheer, homemade crafts, and community spirit. Gillian’s daughter Victoria and granddaughter Elsa ran the tea and coffee station, while step-granddaughter Ellie delighted attendees with her homemade cakes. Victoria also created beautiful floral arrangements and Christmas wreaths, while Gillian showcased her talent with a selection of crochet items. Adding to the variety, Gillian’s granddaughter Erynn, Oscar’s sister, contributed handmade jewellery.
The Fayre was bustling with friends eager to support the cause, and their generosity was overwhelming. In just four hours, this incredible family raised an amazing £430 to support our work with children and young people with Down Syndrome.
We are so grateful to Gillian and her family for their hard work and generosity. Seeing extended families like theirs come together reminds us of the power of community and love. Thank you for making a difference!
If Gillian’s story has inspired you and you would like to organize your own fundraiser, we’d love to hear from you. Together, we can continue to provide vital support for families across the region.
