Ups and Downs Southwest is fortunate enough to have the dedicated support of local photographer Mike O' Carroll. His ability to capture the spirit and essence of our special children in his pictures has been a source of great joy to individual parents and to us as an organisation. We have built up a massive library of images of our children which are used primarily to change and improve public perspective and awareness, eradicate the unfortunate stereotype image associated with Down Syndrome, and to provide new parents with a bright and optimistic view of their tomorrows. We have now produced some truly beautiful A3 size Photo-books which celebrate Down Syndrome in all its diversity. (See pages below)
If you are interested in purchasing or sponsoring one of our large A3 Photo-books or know of a person or an organisation/business who might like to, then please contact us.
Reading Books:
We now produce our own reading books and information books for children at both primary and secondary age. These books are designed to be used with ordinary children to help raise awareness, understanding, and a more positive image, of children who have Down Syndrome. They are ideal for schools and for use with siblings and other friends or relations' children. The response to these books - new for 2010, has been even more positive and enthusiastic than we imagined! See some examples of pages from two of the reading books for primary school, below, and please contact us for details.
